PEFTI announces scholarship opportunities; as it concludes Animation Workshop organised by French Embassy.

It’s another first from the prestigious PEFTI Film Institute; a one-week Workshop on Animation, initiated by the Consulate of France, in partnership with PEFTI, held on the Campus, benefiting several participants.

Gilles Cortella, a 3D Animation Supervisor, trained at the prestigious Bordeaux Montaigne University and Les Gobelins in France, flew into Nigeria to hold the workshop, from October 31 to November 2, 2016.

The Animation Workshop premiered with a screening at the French Consulate in Ikoyi, Lagos. This was a Networking opportunity for Nigerian animators. It followed with Analytical and Practical Sessions at PEFTI Film Institute, culminating with a tour of The Hub.

Gilles Cortella taught participants using Cartoons, Short Films, and Music Videos. He took them through a step-by-step training on Maya, the software used to create Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II, Maleficent, X-Men, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Transformers.

The Workshop Participants included representatives from Quartermax Media, Plan Recherche, Comic Republic, Nukoncept Studio, Plasmoid9, Spoof Animations, PEFTI Film Institute, and Wale Adenuga Productions. They polished their skills, learnt new techniques, and showcased their works.

At the end of the workshop, many expressed excitement, applauding the altruistic efforts of the French consulate for the free training.

Pierre Cherruau, Regional Audio-visual Attache of the French Consulate, said
“This is the first of many workshops the French Embassy will hold for Nigerian animators. The Embassy of France is interested in cementing her investment in Nigeria’s Creative Industries”.
